the Dub C is my drug
two weeks on the West Coast feels like a flash in the pan. i miss the good ol cali-o.
upon arriving in sd, i hit up the slopes with that pretty brown boy jason gan. if i posted his pic, you girls (and possibly boys) would be swooning all over him but since he's married, i'll refrain. we went to snow summit/big bear, a couple hours from san diego. on the way up the mountain road, we had our A/C and sunglasses on. it was hot as hell and i was beginning to wonder if it would be a better idea to go mountain biking. but alas, it was one of the most incredibly relaxing and comfortable boardin' sessions i've ever had. sprawled out across the lift, caressing jason's face, i was in utter bliss and in complete harmonious compliance with nature. i felt like i was sunbathing with a board strapped to my feet. super soft and slushy snow made for easy ground tricks and smooth slow-motion hits off medium sized kickers. the half pipe was buttery smooth and easily conquered. i am now a big fan of spring boarding.
the rest of my socal stay was just as fun and relaxing. my niece now calls me "unka davy" and she remembers me! my sis is still running her accupuncture thang, working twice a week, and my bro-in-law is still working his financial advisory biz. good times chillin with heads in la and sd. so renting a 350Z turned out to be a bad idea as I got a speeding ticket on the way to the SD airport. damn pig had the gall to pull me over for going 82 on the 5 freeway. i was on it for 20 seconds! damn pig.
fuggeabout the pig! come play in my world!

flew up to seattle with peterman and picked up the hot caravan and 3 other kids for our trip to mammoth. stopped by in vancouver for some wonton noodle soup and chinese delicious buns to make glorious breakfast of whistler. we met up with the rest of the 18 large crew for dinner and drinks at milestones. pretty good bar food and huge hoegaarden glasses.
boardin the first day was interesting. we boarded down a glacier in near zero-visibility conditions. since we couldn't see the ground, or had an frame of reference, i had no idea how fast i was going until i saw a post marker whiz by me. there were times when i'd suddenly feel weightless one moment and the next my knees would violently be shoved up to my face. the undulating terrain coupled with unknown speeds and dense fog made for quite the interesting ride.
glacier hikin. thighs burning. butt burning. i can't feel my lower body.

the scond day was miserable. it was raining on the mountain and we all got soaked to the bone within an hour. but alas, some of us still trudged on til the end of the day.
sponges soaking up the rain

third day was a mixed bag. still raining but we hit up some amazing pow near the summit. zero visibility but who gives a rat's a$$ when your board's carvin up the virgin white pow pow. a bunch of us terrain heads hit up the park and pipe for a good part of the day. decent medium sized kickers, interesting curved tabletops, and a solid super pipe made my day.
